Hello,
My name is xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, a Runescape player living in the state of California in the U.S sharing similar problems that other players go through. I have no idea whom I'm talking to. Someone at this url: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20121127121059AAG53sG wrote this "Recently an investment firm called Insight Venture Partners purchased a majority share in Jagex stock. I have begun sending them emails, and encouraging friends and family members to do the same." I'm requesting that you use your leverage to try to force Jagex to repair their game which I feel is almost beyond mending. It has been shown that investors > programmers and mods. Many Runescape players has voiced concerns even causing a few riots on the servers.
Before you go on, you may ask, "Whats in it for us?" If this is fixed, then people will be more willing to purchase things from the Jagex. I even will provide details on how Jagex can make more money without angering the players. This way, you get more money.
These concerns are over new updates that people feel are letting people buy their way to the top and de-valuing the game. Essentially, making it so a little kid 8 year old kid stealing their parent's credit card can buy all this useless, virtual bling. As you read in the forums you may find many complaints that I'm asking you fix. I'm also asking you look at the forums. A link to the forums is here. I hope you help the game and take a look. http://services.runescape.com/m=forum/forums.ws. You may find other significant issues like Soloman's General Store which sells mostly cosmetic animations for runecoins which are bought with real money or the Combat Triangle. Here are the top 2 which impacts all players:
1. Bots. Bots are basically programs that play for a person on their account. The problems need to be dealt collectively. Like an ant colony, you need to take out the colony itself at once and the queen. There are many like random events. These are random little minigames that take 2-3 minutes each. Other Ideas is player killing bots. This means that they automatically become targetable for other players to attack when they otherwise wouldn't. That way, the player lose everything because the it would be dropped by the character from their event. It's likely you would need to pile on strategies recommended from multiple people. Jagex's approval would go up because a major problem that's plagued the game from the game's earliest day would be solved. Again, people would me more willing to spend money.
2. Squeal of Fortune. This feature is shortened to SoF. This is a reference to Wheel of Fortune, a popular game show in the United States. Basically you click a button on the screen and the wheel spins, and you get a daily bonus which is a random item. Often times, the item is members only which annoys free players. Because the item is members only, (who pay 10 bucks USD) Free players just don't get the item. Paying members (p2p for short) feel that this is good because free players don't pay, they think that becuase they pay and Free players (f2p for short) so what right do they have. The SoF has many overpowered bonuses and armor and weapons. They often do specials here but don't give people enough time to earn them unless they spend a ton of money. This naturally angered people
How Jagex can earn more money while not angering the players and not reducing cash flow to Jagex:
Free players currently have access to about 25% of the game has to offer. Members has access to everything at about USD $10.00 I believe there should be partial membership. Meaning if you purchase 1/3 partial membership you get 1/3 of what Runescape has to offer for 1/3 the price. I believe it should be around USD $3.50. Same pattern with 1/2 membership at around $5.00. It goes on with 2/3 membership for 6.50 then with 3/4 membership at 7.50. This way, it is proportional yet you aren't letting people buy their way to the top.
If you have more questions, please reply. The fate of Runescape depends on this. I can see the writing on the wall. Runescape will collapse without action.
Sincerely,
xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
